Sandwich Bay through the seasons: a video diary  -  Nick Smith

A talk illustrated by a film showing many of the birds and other wildlife around Sandwich Bay in southeast Kent.  Filmed within the Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory recording area, it covers a wide range of species as well as location shots and includes a sound track for many of the birds.

Nick Smith has lived in SE Kent all his life and worked as a discovery chemist at Pfizer in Sandwich for 34 years.  He took early retirement in 2009 and rekindled his early interests in bird watching and photography.  Sandwich Bay was close to his home and proved to be an ideal place to learn how to use his relatively inexpensive ‘bridge camera’.  The diversity of species found there surprised him and he gradually built up a large collection of photographs and short videos – which he has used to create the longer films used in his talks.
