HABITAT CODES: The B.O.S. habitat
code, already available separately on a card for field use, is reproduced
below. The observer has the choice of
using either the simple codes (e.g. A1 for arable land) or the more refined
codes into which certain habitats have been subdivided (e.g. A101 for
barley). It is permissible to quote a
combination of more than one code when categories overlap or border on one
another, multiple codes can also apply in cases of doubt in preference to
selecting what you consider as most important. The new habitat code is fully compatible with that introduced
in 1982, but provides more precise information on habitat requirements and
preferences. |
